20ft Container Transport to Juba

The right box for dense, heavy cargo. A 20ft container reaches its weight limit long before it runs out of space, which is exactly what you want for the goods below.

When a 20ft is the right choice

A 20ft has roughly half the internal volume of a 40ft but a payload capacity that is much closer to it. For heavy cargo that means a 20ft is usually the cheaper unit, because you will hit the weight limit either way and you're not paying for volume you cannot use.

Typical 20ft cargo on this route:

  • Cement, tiles, sanitary ware and other building materials
  • Steel, pipes, rebar and metal products
  • Machine parts, generators, pumps and compressors
  • Tinned and packaged food in dense cartons
  • Bagged goods

Typical cargo that wants a 40ft instead:

  • Furniture, mattresses and foam products
  • Empty packaging, plastics and insulation
  • Light consumer goods in large cartons
  • Anything where you fill the box before you reach the weight limit

Axle loads matter more than you think

A 20ft loaded to its maximum gross weight is a heavy unit on a long road haul through three countries, each with its own axle load enforcement. Overloading doesn't just risk a fine; it risks the truck being stopped and the cargo being transhipped at your cost. Tell us the actual gross weight when you ask for a rate, not an estimate.

What the rate includes

Every published row states its own inclusions. In general, expect the following to sit outside the transport rate unless the table says otherwise:

  • Port charges levied by Kenya Ports Authority (Kenya Ports Authority, verified 19 Oct 2026)
  • The shipping line's container deposit, detention and demurrage
  • Import duty and taxes assessed in South Sudan (see import duties and taxes)
  • Customs brokerage, where shown as excluded
  • Offloading at the consignee's premises

Kenyan export or international transit?

The rate tables above split 20ft rates by cargo origin, because the two are cleared differently:
