40ft Container Transport to Juba

The right box when volume is your constraint rather than weight. A 40ft gives you roughly twice the space of a 20ft for substantially less than twice the transport cost.

When a 40ft is the right choice

Choose a 40ft when you will run out of space before you run out of payload. Because the road cost of a 40ft is well below double the cost of a 20ft, cargo that cubes out is almost always cheaper in the larger box.

Typical 40ft cargo on this route:

  • Furniture, mattresses, foam and soft furnishings
  • Light consumer goods, clothing and textiles in volume
  • Packaging materials, plastics and insulation
  • Mixed retail stock for a shop or distributor
  • Solar panels, water tanks and other bulky light equipment

High cube. A 40ft high cube gives extra internal height for the same floor area. It is worth asking for when your cargo stacks well. Confirm that the consignee's offloading point can handle the height before you commit.

Practicalities at the Juba end

A 40ft on a trailer needs room to manoeuvre and room to offload. Before booking, check that:

  • The delivery address can physically take a full length trailer
  • There is equipment or labour on site to offload within the free time
  • Someone with authority will be there to receive and sign

Waiting time at offloading is charged, and it is avoidable.

Empty return

A 40ft is a valuable piece of equipment a long way from where the line wants it. Agree the empty return arrangement before the container leaves the terminal: who returns it, to where, by when, and at whose cost. The published tables state the position for each rate.
