Shipping Machinery and Heavy Equipment to South Sudan

Generators, pumps, mills, tractors, compressors, workshop plant. We crate it, move it, clear it and put it down where you need it. If you have never imported before, that is the normal case here and we will do the paperwork for you.

What we move

  • Generators, alternators and power equipment
  • Pumps, compressors, welders and workshop plant
  • Agricultural machinery: tractors, ploughs, mills, irrigation sets
  • Construction plant and attachments
  • Processing and packaging lines
  • Milling, grinding and water treatment equipment
  • Machine parts and assemblies too heavy for a parcel

It arrives at your door, not at a depot

A machine left at a yard in Juba is still your problem. We deliver to where the machine is going to work: the workshop, the plant gate, the drilling site, the farm, the camp.

That includes locations well beyond Juba. We run on to Kapoeta, Torit, Bor, Bentiu, Malakal, Rumbek, Wau, Aweil, Yambio and Yei, and to smaller places where the route allows it. Tell us the final address when you ask for a price rather than after the machine reaches Juba, because planning one movement is cheaper than planning two.

Say at the outset whether there is a forklift, a crane or a ramp at the delivery point. If there is not, we need to know before the machine is loaded, not when the truck is standing outside your gate.

Crating and safe handling

Most machinery damage happens in handling, not on the road, and it happens to equipment that was loaded in a hurry. What we do about that:

Export crating. Purpose built timber crates and skids sized to the machine, with internal bracing so nothing moves inside the box. Where we crate in solid wood, the packaging is treated and marked to the international standard for wood packaging, which requires it to be debarked, heat treated and carry the official mark before it crosses a border. (International Plant Protection Convention (FAO), verified 19 Oct 2026) Untreated wood packaging gets consignments rejected or held at the destination, so this is not optional and it is not a place to economise.

Preparing the machine. Fluids drained or secured, batteries disconnected and packed separately where they are the kind we can carry, moving parts locked, loose fittings removed and bagged, and the whole thing photographed before the crate closes.

Corrosion protection. Bare machined surfaces coated, and moisture barriers inside the crate where the cargo is going by sea. Two months in a container across the Indian Ocean is enough to rust an unprotected face.

Securing. Lashed and chocked to the deck or the trailer bed, with lifting and slinging points marked on the outside so nobody has to guess where to put the forks.

Marking. Every piece marked with your name, the destination and a piece number, and the packing list written from the actual packing rather than from the order.

Photographs at every stage. Before crating, after crating, loaded, and on delivery.

Proof the machine arrived, and in what condition

Damage arguments on this route are usually unwinnable because nobody has evidence. So we build the evidence as a matter of course.

Every delivery comes back with a signed delivery note naming who received it, photographs taken at your site showing the machine and the state it arrived in, and video of the offload where you want it. If the machine was fine when it left the crate and fine when it came off the truck, that is on record. If it was not, you find out at the gate rather than when somebody tries to commission it.

What it costs, and why the figures are on the site

We are not going to tell you we are cheap and ask you to take it on trust. Our rates are published in tables, with what each one includes and excludes written beside it. Compare them against whatever else you have been quoted.

A full truckload is priced per vehicle, not per kilogram. Waiting time beyond the agreed free period at loading or offloading is charged separately.

Three things that keep machinery affordable, and that we will raise with you unprompted:

  • No urgency premium. A machine standing idle is not a reason for us to reprice the job. The rate is the rate.
  • The right unit. A machine that fits a 20ft does not need a 40ft, and a machine that does not need a sealed container does not need one. 20ft · 40ft · full truckload
  • Consolidation. If you are buying a machine and the spares to go with it, moving them together costs less than moving them twice.

Oversized, abnormal and very heavy loads are quoted per shipment, because they need a lowbed, sometimes a crane, and sometimes a route permit. Send dimensions and weight and we will tell you what is involved.

Air freight for the urgent part of a machinery job

A machine itself rarely flies. It is heavy, it is usually planned, and the container or the truck is almost always the right answer.

What does fly is the thing holding up a commissioning: a control board, a sub assembly, a seal kit, a component that arrived damaged and has to be replaced before anyone can sign the machine off. We handle air freight for time sensitive consignments, so a machine already on site does not sit waiting on one part that could have been in the air.

Your first import? That is the normal case here

You do not need to know what an HS code is. You do not need to have heard of form C17, a transit bond or a Certificate of Conformity. Plenty of our customers are buying their first machine from abroad and have no idea where to start, and that is fine.

What we need from you:

  • What the machine is, with the make and model
  • Where it is now and where it is going
  • Its weight and dimensions, or the supplier's photographs if you do not have them
  • The supplier's invoice
  • Who the consignee will be in South Sudan

What we handle:

  • Classifying the machine and telling you the duty position before you commit
  • The export declaration in Kenya, or the transit declaration and bond for cargo coming from abroad
  • Checking whether a Certificate of Conformity is required and telling you in time to get one
  • Port clearance, collection and the road movement
  • The South Sudanese customs entry, assessment and release
  • Delivery to your site and the paperwork your accountant will ask for afterwards

If something about your consignment is going to be a problem, you will hear it from us early, while it can still be fixed cheaply.

A word on used machinery

Secondhand plant is common on this route and there is nothing wrong with it, but the paperwork is fussier. A vague invoice for a used machine invites a valuation query, which costs more in storage than it ever saves. Give us the make, model, year, serial number and what was actually paid, and the entry goes through quietly.

Requirements for particular categories, including vehicles and anything needing standards certification, are set by the regulator and change. We check the current position for your machine rather than quoting you something we read once.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you crate the machine yourselves?

Yes. We build crates and skids sized to the machine, with internal bracing, corrosion protection on bare surfaces and moisture barriers for sea freight. Solid wood packaging is treated and marked to the international standard, because untreated wood gets consignments held or rejected at destination.

Can you deliver to our site rather than to Juba?

Yes, and we would rather do that than hand you a machine in a yard. We deliver to workshops, plant gates, farms and camps, including locations beyond Juba such as Kapoeta, Bentiu and Malakal. Tell us the final address when you ask for a price, and tell us whether there is a forklift or crane at the other end.

We have never imported anything before. Can you still help?

That is the normal case here. Send us what the machine is, where it is, where it is going and the supplier's invoice. We handle classification, the declarations, any certification the machine needs, clearance and delivery, and we tell you early if anything is going to be a problem while it can still be fixed cheaply.

How much does it cost to ship a machine?

Our container and truckload rates are published on the site with their inclusions and exclusions, so you can check them against anything else you have been quoted. Oversized and very heavy loads are quoted per shipment because they need a lowbed and sometimes a crane. Send dimensions and weight and we will price it properly.

Yes, and it is common on this route. The paperwork is fussier: give us the make, model, year, serial number and what was actually paid. A vague invoice for a used machine invites a valuation query, which costs far more in storage than it saves in duty.
