Consolidated Cargo and Groupage to Juba
If your shipment won't fill a truck or a container, it travels with other people's and you pay for the space you use. That is groupage, and for most small and medium sized consignments it is the cheapest honest answer.

How consolidation works
- Cargo is received at our consolidation point, or collected from your supplier.
- It is measured and weighed. Both matter, because you are billed on chargeable weight or cubic metres, whichever is greater.
- The load is built. Your consignment waits with others until the vehicle is full enough to depart. This waiting period is the real cost of groupage, and it is why a part load is slower than a dedicated truck.
- It travels as part of a consolidated load on the corridor to Juba.
- It is deconsolidated at destination and released to each consignee against their own entry.
What it costs
Groupage is priced per kilogram of chargeable weight or per cubic metre, against a minimum shipment charge. Below the minimum, the handling and paperwork do not get cheaper just because the box is smaller.
Chargeable weight is the greater of actual gross weight and volumetric weight. A carton of pillows and a carton of bolts of the same size cost the same to move, because they occupy the same space on the vehicle.
Sensitive cargo is rated separately, in the second column of each table. Electronics, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and similar goods carry a different rate because they carry different handling and documentary requirements.
Packing for a groupage load
Your cargo will be handled more times than it would in a dedicated truck, and it will travel next to goods you didn't choose. That changes what good packing looks like:
- Use rigid outer cartons, not bags, for anything crushable
- Palletise and wrap where you can
- Mark every piece with the consignee name and a piece number (1 of 6, 2 of 6…)
- Make the packing list match the marks exactly. This is what prevents a short shipment claim.
- Do not put documents only inside the cargo; send them electronically as well

Fragile cargo has to be crated
Your cargo will be handled more times than it would on a dedicated vehicle, by people loading and offloading other consignments at other stops. Anything fragile travels in a closed crate on a consolidated load, and solar panels in particular are a condition rather than a suggestion. We build crates if you need one.
Solar panels, inverters and batteries
What cannot travel in a groupage load
Because the vehicle is shared, the rules are stricter than for a dedicated truck. Dangerous goods, lithium batteries, chemicals, aerosols and perishables are excluded from groupage rates, and some goods we won't carry at all. See what we don't ship.
Groupage is not the right answer when
- You have enough volume for a truck. Take an FTL.
- You have enough for a container. Take an FCL.
- The cargo should not share a vehicle, is hazardous, or needs temperature control.
- The deadline won't survive waiting for the load to build. Consider air freight.
